Norwegian singer-songwriter, Sigrid takes one giant leap for mankind in her new track It Gets Dark. The song opens with echoes of high pitched synth which make you feel like you’re stepping onto a rocket ship heading for space. The galactic atmosphere that she creates is followed by powerful piano chords and this is the moment you realise that there’s no messing about. It’s a powerful pop song with a hint of psychedelic soft rock as we hear an atmospheric electric guitar solo. It Gets Dark is one of those songs that is bound to make an appearance in a star-studded movie soon.
In a recent interview, Sigrid describes her two different lifestyles; one in Norway where she can chill and relax with nature and the other in big cities which is work-hard play-hard. The song is about feeling in-between and not knowing where to call home. She also says the song is about needing darkness in life in order to find light in your life. You need darkness so you can appreciate and do more of the things that make you happy.

The evocative sounds along with the poignant lyrics take us on a journey through space whilst Sigrid’s alluring and comforting vocals firmly bring us back down to earth.
